Delete your Ringzel account
This page explains how to delete an account for Ringzel, the call answering app and service. It is for anyone with a Ringzel login: business owners, and the admins and members of their team.
The Ringzel app is published on the App Store and Google Play by Shipstack LLC, which is also the data controller for your account data under the Ringzel privacy policy.
You can delete your account in the Ringzel app, on the web, or by emailing us if you no longer have the app or cannot sign in.
Delete your account in the app
- Open the Ringzel app on your phone and sign in.
- Tap Account, then Delete my account, and read what will be deleted.
- Tap Continue, then type DELETE.
- Enter your password and tap Delete my account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, you are asked to sign in with it again instead.
After you confirm
Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out on every device. If your account signs in with Apple, delete it from the app on an iPhone, or email us.
Delete your account on the web
- Go to app.ringzel.com and sign in.
- Open Settings, then Profile.
- Under Delete account, select Delete account.
- Enter your password and select Delete for good. If you sign in with Google, sign in again first, then select I sign in with Google within 10 minutes.
Ask us to delete your account
If you no longer have the app, cannot sign in, or would rather we did it for you, email privacy@ringzel.com from the email address on your account and tell us the name of your business. You do not need to download the app again.
We may need to check that the request comes from you before we act on it. We respond within one month, as our privacy policy says.
Owners and team members
- Admins and members: deleting your account deletes your login and removes you from the business. The business, its calls and its settings stay for the rest of the team.
- Owners, where another owner remains: only your login is deleted. The business carries on.
- The last owner: the business is deleted with your account, including its calls, recordings, customers, bookings, settings and team invites. Other people on the team keep their own logins but lose access to the business.
- A demo business cannot be deleted this way. Email us and we will remove it.
What is deleted
| Data | When |
|---|---|
| Your login: name, email address, password, Google or Apple sign-in link and sessions | As soon as you confirm |
| Notification registrations for your phones | As soon as you confirm |
| Sign in with Apple: Ringzel's access to your Apple account is revoked | As soon as you confirm |
| When the business is deleted: business details, receptionist settings, greeting, knowledge and opening hours | As soon as you confirm |
| When the business is deleted: calls, call recordings, transcripts and summaries | As soon as you confirm. If a recording cannot be removed straight away, our team deletes it by hand |
| When the business is deleted: customers, bookings, team invites and connected phones | As soon as you confirm |
| When the business is deleted: its Ringzel number | Stops answering for the business as soon as you confirm, and is then released |
What is kept, and why
| Data | Why it is kept | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Invoices and payment records | Tax and accounting law | Up to six years after you stop being a subscriber, where the law requires it |
| Database backups | To restore the service after a fault. Deleted data is not removed from backups one by one | Until it ages out of the backup cycle |
| Records of Ringzel staff access to a business, with the link to the business removed | Security | As long as needed for security |
| Calls handled for a business you leave | They belong to the business, which controls that data | As long as the business keeps its account |
| Emails already sent, such as call alerts and summaries | They are in the recipients' inboxes, not with us | We cannot recall them |
Before you delete
- Card payments: deleting your account does not cancel a card subscription by itself. Our team cancels it after the deletion and emails you.
- Call forwarding: remove it from your phone, or calls will ring out once your receptionist stops answering.
- Recordings: there is no full data export. To keep a call recording, open the call in the app and tap Download recording first.
- Deletion cannot be undone.
Deleting some data without closing your account
To ask us to delete some of your data but keep your account, or to use any other right you have under data protection law, email privacy@ringzel.com. Our privacy policy explains your rights.
If you called a business that uses Ringzel
The business you called controls the record of your call. Ask that business to delete it, or email privacy@ringzel.com and we will pass your request on.
